Durham, NC - Elizabeth Bennett stopped in her tracks at the balcony entrance of the RBC Center. She took a deep breath and grabbed the handrail with one hand and her husband's arm with the other.

"I love hockey, but I hate heights," said Bennett, a data coordinator for the Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB) group at the Duke Cancer Center. "It can make going to hockey games really uncomfortable because if we sit in the more affordable balcony seats, it takes me well into the second period before I can relax and enjoy the hockey."

That changed when Bennett discovered PERQS, the Duke employee discount program.

Through PERQS, faculty and staff can purchase $85 lower-level stadium tickets for $50 for certain Carolina Hurricanes games. Balcony tickets are $30 instead of $42, and premier tickets are $60, not $95.

Currently, the discount is available for games on Oct. 28, Nov. 14, and Dec. 15. On Dec. 1, additional tickets will go on sale for games on Jan. 10, Feb. 17 and March 30. The tickets are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and must be ordered at least one week before the game date through the "sports discounts" section on the PERQS website.

Bennett now regularly attends Hurricanes games with her family and friends.

"My boys love sitting in the lower-level seats to be closer to the action, and I love not getting dizzy looking down at the rink," Bennett said. "The PERQS discount has made a big difference for our family."
