Genomics Team Wins $5.9 Million Grant
Looking for gene expression patterns in the lung
A Duke collaboration in the Center for Genomic and Computational Biology is one of five centers sharing $28.3 million in grants from the National Human Genome Research Institute to study the mechanisms that turn genes on and off. The Duke team, led by Tim Reddy, assistant professor of biostatistics and bioinformatics, Greg Crawford assistant professor of pediatrics and medical genetics, Charles Gersbach, assistant professor of biomedical engineering and Alex Hartemink, professor of computer science, will receive $5.9 million to characterize how human lung epithelial cells respond to anti-inflammatory drugs called glucocorticoids. The team also includes former Duke faculty member Barbara Englehardt, who is now at Princeton.
